Shah, to attend the Afghan Loya Jirga Peace initiative meeting
in Rome, November 1999. She was asked to submit a proposal to
the Afghan Loya Jirga Preparatory Meeting Committee regarding
the role of Afghan women in the Peace Initiative.
- Brussels: Invited by the Belgium government to participate
as an adviser in a roundtable "Building Women's Leadership
in the Reconstruction of Afghanistan". She played a key role
in formulating the Brussels Action Plan, identifying critical
actions to ensure that Afghan women are central in the efforts
to rebuild Afghanistan.
- Tokyo: Invited as a keynote speaker in the workshop Post-Conflict
reconstruction Assistance and Gender by the United Nations
Development Program and Japan International Cooperation Assistance
(JICA).
Also briefed the JICA members about the needs and realities of
women and children in Afghanistan post-Taliban.
